Welcome Home Greg Johnson

Missionary to Brazil

Greg Johnson was a Jr. High student when his family joined the launch team that helped create Brazos Pointe Fellowship in 2001. From the beginning he and his brother Jeff embraced our motto “Everybody Serves”, and did their part to reach out to Southern Brazoria County’s unchurched folks. As college students, when they saw an opportunity to serve overseas with us, they packed up and headed to Cambodia. A year later Greg took another opportunity to serve internationally; this time in Bolivia with one of our water well drilling teams. There in South America God placed a desire in his heart that short term mission trips couldn’t satisfy.

Fast forward a few years to 2010 when Greg received a two-year appointment by the International Mission Board to literally go where no Christians had gone before.* Serving as a “Journeyman Missionary”, Greg has spent the last two years in Brazil sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with people in remote villages along the Amazon River. He has experienced hardship and hunger, joy and satisfaction.

Having completed his assignment, Greg returned home this week. We’re working on a date for him to speak to our church about his journey. I’ll let you know as soon as we set it. Meanwhile I thought you may want to know he’ll be attending worship with us this Sunday morning in the 8:30 AM service. Then he’ll drive to Galveston to attend the 11:00 AM worship service at our satellite campus, Coastal Community Church, where his family now lives and serves. If you attend one of those services, make sure you tell Greg how much we appreciate him for his service in God’s Kingdom.

Live bold, Greg (the older one)

*As Greg served globally, Jeff continued to serve locally back here at the Pointe. Then this spring he too pulled up roots and moved to Galveston to help launch Coastal Community Church.

Welcome Party This Sunday for Chris & Kylie Chrismond

This Sunday will be Chris Chrismond’s first Weekend Experience here as our new Worship Pastor. We want to top the day off with a Welcome Party for him and Kylie Sunday afternoon in the All Star Room. Come and visit anytime between 2:00 and 3:30.

We have a tradition of “carding” our new Pastors. Here’s how it works: bring a gift card – any kind: restaurant, grocery, hardware or department store, iTunes, etc. – and give it to them at the reception. It’ll offer them a warm Brazos Pointe Welcome and also be a great help as they prepare to set up their new home here in Texas.

Live bold, Greg

Welcome Chris Chrismond – New Worship Pastor

If you were here this past Sunday you got to meet Chris Chrismond as he led us in worship. I’m pleased to tell you he accepted our offer Sunday afternoon to become our new Worship Pastor. Chris and his wife Kylie returned to Colorado Monday to pack up and will be back here to stay before the week is out.

Chris is a graduate of Mississippi College with a degree in Christian Studies and Philosophy.  Over the past eleven years he has helped lead worship in churches large and small in Indiana, Virginia and most recently in Colorado. Ours, however, will be the first church he has the opportunity to serve as a full time Worship Pastor. He and Kylie met in Indiana. Their journeys paralleled as she earned her education degree at Liberty University in Virginia. They got married after she graduated and moved to Colorado.

We’ll give Chris and Kylie a week to settle in and then he’ll begin his ministry here with us on Sunday July 15th.  We’ll have a welcome party that afternoon for you to meet and encourage them as they become the newest addition to our church family.

Live bold, Greg

Sunday’s Beach Baptism was awesome. Shortly after the rain clouds passed over us we baptized 31 folks in the churning surf. Story after story of life change. It never gets old.
